Where Do Petland Woodlands' Puppies Come From?

Petland Woodlands' puppies come from carefully selected professional breeders and carefully screened hobby breeders who specialize in a single breed. We work only with breeders who meet applicable licensing requirements, and we choose them based on strong compliance histories and their commitment to animal welfare and veterinary care guidelines. Many of our breeder partners also take part in recognized breed and care certification programs.

Our owner and managers personally visit our breeders. Since 2014, we've taken more than 20 breeder inspection tours, traveling over 35,000 miles and visiting more than 300 kennels in Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Petland Woodlands is also an early supporter of Canine Care Certified, a voluntary nationwide program whose standards were developed at Purdue University by Dr. Candace Croney, Ph.D., in 2013. The program focuses on both the physical health and the behavioral well-being of dogs in breeder care. Meet our breeders

What Veterinary Care Do Puppies Receive?

Every puppy at Petland Woodlands is examined by a licensed veterinarian before going home. Many of our puppies have been seen by two to three independent veterinarians before they become available.

1. Before arrival: each puppy is veterinarian-checked before arriving at our store
2. In our care: a consulting veterinarian examines new arrivals, provides preventive care and oversees our healthcare protocols
3. Every week: a veterinarian visits the store to examine and monitor the health of our puppies
4. Before going home: our veterinarians certify that each puppy is healthy, and our team reviews the health records with you before pickup

Puppies are current on vaccinations and deworming protocols, and health records are available on request. Every puppy also receives a free follow-up visit to the vet with their new family. Learn about our veterinary care
